John Signa, Managing Partner
John Signa is a co-founder and the managing partner of E78, responsible for the overall strategy and direction of the firm. He brings a focused background and a diverse network within private equity and fund operations.
John has 15 years of experience spanning financial services and private equity, with industry expertise across education, healthcare, business services, industrial and construction services. Prior to E78, John worked at Sterling Partners, a private equity firm with approximately $5 billion of assets under management, as a vice president in the corporate finance group.
Proudly, John served as a Board Member and CFO for Cambium United, E78's first investment as an independent sponsor. During his two year tenure, he oversaw a growth strategy that yielded a near doubling in size, acquisition led adjacent market entry, and a sustainable infrastructure to support future growth initiatives.
John received MBA in Finance, as well as his B.S. in Accounting from Dominican University. He is a certified public accountant and a certified valuation analyst.
Currently he resides in Oak Brook with his wife and two sons.
Gary Modrow, PArtner
Gary Modrow is a co-founder of E78, responsible for firm operations, business development, and deal origination. He brings an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to both the firm, as well as his investment strategies.
His diverse financial, strategic, and operational experiences span across professional services, management consulting, and corporate M&A. He has worked with both distressed and growth stage manufacturing, distribution, and service companies in healthcare, education, transportation, food, beverage, and agriculture.
Most recently, Gary led the M&A strategy and execution for The GSI Group. His activities focused on all stages of the deal cycle, including investment thesis, deal origination, execution, and integration. He was involved in over $500M of transactions, including adjacent market entry, geographic footprint expansion, and strengthening of the product portfolio.
Gary holds his MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his B.A. in Accounting from Illinois Wesleyan University. He is a certified public accountant and certified valuation analyst.
Currently he resides in Glen Ellyn with his wife and two children.
Adam East, Partner
Adam East is a co-founder of E78, responsible for the firm's finances and administration, as well as deal origination. He brings an unrelenting work ethic and passion for technological efficiency to his investment theses.
Prior to E78, Adam worked at Sterling Partners as the Director of Portfolio Reporting, where he was responsible for managing a team that monitored and evaluated the financial and operational performance of Sterling’s portfolio companies. Adam has nearly a decade of experience as a senior analyst and specializes in due diligence, analytics and financial reporting.
Adam leads the financial consulting practice of Element 78 Advisors and is the CFO and E78 investment partner for Spark Business Works.
Adam received his B.B.A, cum laude, in finance from Loyola University.
Currently he resides in Chicago with his wife and son.
